Decoratori Bassanesi presents Kimono and Wă Collection at Cersaie 2024.
The design for Wă collection is inspired by the roof tiles of pagodas and typical dwellings in rural chinese villages. In these buildings, irregular handcrafted terracotta tiles are layered and stacked atop one another in an interlocking system inherited from ancient, traditional Chinese techniques. Wa, designed for Decoratori Bassanesi is the result of this impressions of the patterns after exploring several shapes to recreate the tiles’ section and achieve the desired mosaic effect in a “tile”.
Kimono collection was inspired by the traditional Japanese garment held in place by folds and colours. This collection’s three-dimensionality evokes another iconic Decoratori Bassanesi product with a textured and polished finish resulting from glaze overlaps. Contemporary materials and manufacturing processes ensure Kimono tiles’ artisanal quality and glossy, textured surfaces.
